By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Sep 1, 2020

Good Sixty is a revolutionary online marketplace showcasing artisan food and drink from Bristol, Bath and Borough Market’s very best independents, delivering it fresh to customers door by eco-friendly bike.

Good Sixty’s vision is to create wealthier, better-connected communities by helping independent markets and food producers to thrive online against the supermarket giants. The service is a marriage of convenience shopping with a conscience, enabling consumers to practice ethical grocery shopping with ease.

Customers can be sure their money directly supports their small-scale greengrocers, butchers, bakers, fishmongers etc. because the platform only champions independent businesses within the local area, who Good Sixty name their ‘high-street heroes’. What’s more, Good Sixty’s zero emission cargo bikes mean their convenient home delivery service has no negative impact on our carbon footprint either!

Good Sixty’s Green initiatives

Good Sixty’s local deliveries tackle the twin problems of air pollution and congestion that blight cities. They provide carbon neutral deliveries using eco-friendly electric cargo bikes and vans as a green alternative to the diesel-guzzling delivery vans often used by major supermarkets (their cargo bikes deliver the same quantity of goods as a 3.5 tonne van over an 8-hour slot, using only 0.38% of the energy requirements for a diesel van).

The service cuts food miles because most retailers featured on site produce themselves or source produce from local farms. This reduces the need for shipping vans, lowering harmful emissions. These features are particularly important considering Bristol’s targets to become carbon neutral by 2030.

Many of their retailers are organic certified which reduces the demand for artificial fertilisers. Their organic fruit and veg box deliveries are a popular sustainable option for Bristol based families who may be too busy to search out quality, organic produce.

Good Sixty supports their retailers to offer plastic-free packaging and partners with Zero-waste shops like Zero Green to reduce food and plastic waste in the grocery sector.

Customers can discover Bristol’s best independent bakeries, butchers, greengrocers, fishmongers and more at www.goodsixty.co.uk, fill a basket full of fresh produce from multiple traders in one easy checkout, and Good Sixty will deliver it at their chosen time slot.
