Grundon joins the Better Business network
Recently launched in Bristol and operating out of premises in St Philip’s Marsh, Grundon takes great pride in its heritage and its distinctive, innovative approach.
Founded in 1929, the family company is one of the UK’s leading providers of waste management and environmental services.
Among its historic achievements are the introduction of the wheelie bin for trade and domestic waste collection in 1982; construction of the UK’s first environmentally acceptable clinical waste incinerator in 1990; becoming the first major waste industry company to go CarbonNeutral® across its fleet.
In 2014; two years later, the opening of the world’s most advanced aerosol recycling facility; and in 2018, the launch of the industry’s first ultra-low emission hydrogen diesel dual-fuel waste collection vehicle alongside the launch of a paper cup recycling service aimed at tacking the 2.5 billion cups used annually in the UK.

Today in Bristol, the company’s key focus is to help businesses not only sustainably manage but also profit from their waste, through good organisation and understanding of the rebates available through processing of different waste types.
Grundon offers the full range of waste management services, including the collection, treatment, recovery, recycling and disposal of non-hazardous waste streams. It can also deal with all aspects of hazardous waste, including contaminated waste, clinical and healthcare waste, and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
The Bristol team can also offer additional services, including special event waste management and industrial cleaning services.
The city’s outfit is led by Daniel Peacey, regional sales manager, who joined the company in 2006 as a 19-year-old.
His main responsibilities include managing looking after key account customers and seeking new business for Grundon.
“No two days, or customers, are the same,” he says. “One day could involve visiting a new customer who needs a simple general rubbish wheelie bin for weekly collection, another day would be meeting a company needing daily collections of numerous waste streams.
“Tailoring Grundon’s services to specific customer need is the most interesting part of the job. Introducing new waste streams, increasing the amount of waste being diverted from landfill and seeing this working within their business is very rewarding.”
