Grundon renews partnership as Gloucestershire CCC’s recycling soars
Waste management experts Grundon have extended their collaboration with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club (CCC) after a remarkable recycling performance boost. Recycling rates at Seat Unique Stadium surged nearly 60% in the past two years, reaching an impressive 43.8% in 2023 from 28% in 2021.
Over 30 tonnes of waste, including glass, mixed recyclables, and green waste, have been recycled this year. The success is attributed to improved provisions for spectators on matchdays, featuring more bins in strategic locations with clearer usage instructions.
Gloucestershire CCC awarded Grundon a three-year contract for further sustainability enhancements. Next season, fans can expect improved signage, new bins, and measures to minimise waste sent to energy-from-waste facilities.
Daniel Peacey, Grundon’s regional sales manager, highlighted the importance of education and communication in achieving recycling success. A dedicated Sustainability Engagement Manager has been introduced to work on additional improvements.
Neil Priscott, Chief Operating Officer at Gloucestershire CCC, praised Grundon’s consistent overdelivery on services. As the first UK cricket club embracing sustainable initiatives, the club aligns with the UN’s Sports for Climate Action framework. Priscott emphasised the importance of Grundon’s role in the club’s sustainability journey.
