Hargreaves Lansdown joins the Better Business network
Hargreaves Lansdown (HL), the UK’s number one platform for private investors, is one of Bristol’s greatest success stories, now employing over 1,800 people. For 40 years, it’s helped clients save time, tax and money on their investments and savings.
HL is an active member of the local business community and drives and participates in many social mobility initiatives.
- One of the founding signatories of the Bristol Equality Charter, pledging to help improve equality and diversity across Bristol. It is also a founding member of the Bristol Equality Network and has signed the Women in Business Charter.
- Set up The Strive Internship in partnership with Bristol City Council, which aims to offer up to 75 paid internships across 30 different organisations to Black, Asian and minority ethnic university students.
- Launched the HL Foundation – a charitable trust, focused on charities selected by employees. The charity partners for 2022 are 1625 Independent People, which works with young people who are homeless, leaving care or at risk of homelessness in the South West, and Bristol Mind, a mental health resource for people in Bristol and the surrounding areas.
- Gives colleagues the chance to volunteer through The Hargreaves Lansdown Volunteering Scheme. Beneficiaries include Bristol Reading City, Bristol Sport Foundation, Fareshare and Feeding Bristol.
Supports city-wide fundraising appeals – such as Grand Appeal Arts Trail as a sculpture sponsor in aid of the Bristol Children’s Hospital. - Develops sustainability partnerships, such as the rewilding of College Green and supporting TravelWest with greener ways to commute.
- Leads major research projects including the Savings and Resilience Barometer – using the results to drive targeted support in Bristol to build people’s financial resilience.
