Bristol24/7 and Babbasa collaborate on networking event for young people

By Lowie Trevena  Tuesday Mar 19, 2019

Bristol24/7 are collaborating with Babbasa to deliver an inspiring and educational event this April. Supporting young people from Bristol’s disadvantaged inner-city communities, it will help them to fulfill their professional aspirations.

Taking place on Wednesday, April 24 at The Station, ‘Ask About Me 2019’ is a networking event will connect 100 young people with 100 professionals from a variety of fields.

This event will help young people make meaningful connections, grow their confidence and hopefully will lead to work placements, mentoring opportunities and empower them to pursue their career ambitions.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

Creating opportunities for young people has always been a priority for Bristol24/7 so working with Babbasa, an organisation that empowers future leaders, is a perfect partnership.

Bristol24/7’s Better Bristol initiative is a collaborative approach, creating positive impact in the city and addressing the lack of opportunity for many of the city’s young people.

It’s also a priority for the Better Business membership, so Bristol24/7 will be inviting their wide network of professional contacts in the city, and their Better Business members, to attend and support the event.

Osob was introduced to Bristol24/7 through Babbasa and after completing a work experience placement with Bristol24/7 crediting the two organisations in helping her secure her current paid internship with Bristol Community Health and preparing her for the world of work. She said: “That was the first time I stepped into the media industry. Babbasa bridge school and real-life environments.”

A chance to learn about different careers and pathways, the evening will start at 6pm and finish at 8.30pm. With a film screening, a panel discussion and refreshments, as well as the key networking session, it’s an opportunity not to be missed for young people aged 16 and over who need a helping hand into the world of work.
