The social enterprise working to transform young lives in Bristol
The award-winning, not-for-profit social enterprise behind Bristol’s Young Heroes Awards and other projects has joined the Better Business network.
The aim of Community of Purpose is to transform the lives and futures of young people through businesses that act as a force for good. The team works to create purposeful partnerships so that businesses and the community thrive.
The social enterprise delivers three impactful programmes that engage hard to reach groups, enhance community cohesion and improve social mobility, as well as celebrating the incredible achievements of young people who have overcome adversity to achieve great things.
Bristol Young Heroes Awards
The annual awards recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution that Bristol’s young people make to the city, particularly those who have overcome difficult circumstances.
They are supported by the mayor of Bristol and other well-known names, including actor Joe Sims and Bake Off’s Bryony Williams.
Bristol Together Championships
An annual sporting tournament that pulls together primary schools from across the city, the championships reflect the diverse communities that make up Bristol and its surrounding areas.
The goals are to increase young people’s knowledge, understanding and respect of the different cultures, faiths and ethnicities in the Bristol area and appreciate the commonalities that exist between them.
Break Free
Break Free is a holiday activity programme that targets holiday hunger by providing high quality activities and free food for children aged eight to 13 from areas across the most need in south Bristol.
The aim of the programme is that young people can break free from having nothing to do, break free from their screens and their homes, and break free from being hungry during the school holidays.

Community of Purpose bosses say they are dedicated to bringing mutual benefit to their community and the corporate partners they work with. They believe that purpose is good for business and good for the world, bringing meaning, enabling clear decision-making and supporting longer-term financial performance for business and community organisations.
“We are delighted to become a Bristol24/7 Better Business member and we’re committed to playing our part in acting as a positive force for good in the city,” said Amy Kingston, Community of Purpose CEO and co-founder.
