“We believe a hard day’s work deserves fair day’s pay”

By Bristol24/7  Thursday Sep 7, 2023

Formed in 1999 and based in Dundee, Edinburgh, London and Bristol, mtc offers results-driven website design, development, online marketing and digital technology services. They provide the expertise and know-how to deliver outstanding website solutions to clients across all sectors. mtc are best known for their work with BrewDog, B&M, Tiny Rebel and Umbro, as well as their impact on the digital scaling of the brewery, spirits, automotive and pharmaceutical industries in particular.

Joe is part of mtc’s senior management team and heads up mtc’s operations in Bristol. Day to day, Joe can be found in consultations with business directors advising on how to scale their digital operations or drawing up technical and strategical plans to chart the delivery of new websites and apps for mtc clients. Joe also actively forges relationships with local organisations that mtc can support.

Joe’s lived in Southville for 12 years and can be found on the weekends enjoying all that North Street and Wapping Wharf has to offer.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

What’s the one thing that inspires you to get up in the morning?

Client success. At its core, that is what this job and the mtc are all about.

If you could pick one thing to change about Bristol what would it be?

More affordable housing – rent and house prices are so prohibitive we’re driving away talent from the city, especially with the rise of remote working.

What does a Better Bristol mean to you?

To me it means making the city a trailblazer for the rest of the UK in terms of promoting sustainability, inclusivity, social mobility and successful but ethical business practises.

mtc and I are particularly passionate about working collaboratively with local schools and colleges to provide an accessible route to good careers with strong prospects for the next generation of talent based on potential, not background.

As a digital agency we want to continue pushing Bristol as a tech hub, keeping it at the forefront of a burgeoning sector.

What action could you as an individual take? What action could your company take?

As an individual, I’ve been forging links with between mtc and Access Creative College, The Bristol Training Institute and fellow Better Business members Weston College and UWE. It’s still work in progress but when the times right, we’ll be supporting their students even further.

mtc are currently celebrating becoming a living wage employer as we believe a hard day’s work deserves fair day’s pay.

What do you want to see from the Bristol business community in the next five years?

To be the benchmark of sustainable and socially positive business operations, with a strong Bristol business support network to keep the local economy as strong as possible (which is why we love Bristol24/7’s Better Business initiative).
