Willmott Dixon joins Better Business
Willmott Dixon bosses have pledged a commitment to creating sustainable developments that are fit for future generations.
The privately-owned contracting and interior fit-out group that has worked on the Bristol Beacon and East Street Mews projects, among others, was founded in 1852 and opened its first office in the city in 2004.
Bosses hope to build on existing positive work by becoming members of Bristol24/7’s Better Business network.
The company’s purpose is to “deliver brilliant buildings, transform lives, strengthen communities, and enhance the environment with developments that are fit for future generations” and bosses say they are committed to delivering high-impact social value which meets the needs of the local communities.
This includes working in partnership with organisations such as Key4Life, for whom they have provided training and development opportunities on their projects.

A key focus for the firm is to provide opportunities for people who face significant barriers to be in, or on the path to, good careers. It is hoped working with Better Business will help with the firm’s ambitions to create a more sustainable and inclusive built environment.
Willmott Dixon Director, Andrew Dobbs, said: “We are delighted to be part of the Better Business initiative. The objectives of the partnership align with our business; we believe that we have a purpose beyond profit and the energy, passion and commitment of our people can strengthen society’s well-being beyond the buildings we create.
“By working with other like-minded businesses, we can make sure our collective activities have a positive impact on the city and its people.’’

Willmott Dixon’s key projects in the city include Bristol Beacon and Ashton Rise housing for Bristol City Council, Halo and Millwrights Place/Coopers Court for Cubex.
In 2018, Willmott Dixon was one of six companies to receive a Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in the promoting opportunity through social mobility category. In 2019, the firm won another Queen’s Awards for Enterprise for sustainable development.
The company is also donating time and resources on East Street Mews – a ground-breaking initiative that will create 11 much-needed affordable housing for young people facing homelessness in Bristol. East Street Mews is always on the lookout for further support and Wilmott Dixon would welcome individuals or organisations to get in touch to discuss.
