Bradley Stoke plumber wins £10,000

By Katie Button  Wednesday May 22, 2019

One lucky plumber in Bradley Stoke has won £10,000 in cash after entering a national prize draw at his local plumber’s merchant.

Mervyn Fowler, 56, of Fowler Gas Heating & Plumbing Ltd, won the cash prize in Plumbase’s competition after entering the draw while stocking up on trade supplies at the Liberty Industrial Park branch in Bedminster.

Beating over 9,000 other plumbers around the country to claim the £10,000 cash prize. His wife and co-worker Paula said: “We were actually away on holiday when we got the phone call telling us we had won the money. I thought it was a joke! We never win anything, so it was a lovely surprise. You couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces that day!”

Plumbase’s ‘Big Cash Bash’ initiative was launched earlier this year to give something back to the committed plumbing and heating engineers who use their services.

Mike Mullin, branch manager at Bristol Thompsons Plumbase, said: “We’ve got a great working relationship with Mervyn and Paula, we were so pleased to hear that they walked away with a whopping £10k in this competition.

“Support from local professionals is vital to our business and competitions like these truly show how tradespeople can reap the rewards of shopping locally too.”
