CARGO Work takes off

By Bristol24/7  Wednesday Dec 15, 2021

Wapping Wharf will soon be home to a new cutting-edge office space at CARGO Work right in the heart of Bristol’s thriving harbourside area.

With space for up to 230 people across 20,270 sq ft, these stand-out offices will offer the opportunity to work with developer Umberslade to design the interior according to your creative vision – so this will be a bespoke working environment for the future occupier or occupiers.

CARGO Work is a striking building being created within the stone walls of the disused J S Fry warehouse, which were formerly part of the old Bristol Gaol, and will have the same contemporary industrial dockside feel for which this iconic area is renowned.

For a sneak peek of how CARGO Work could look, take a look at this eye-catching flythrough:

From these stylish, contemporary, open-plan offices you will be able to enjoy easy access to a range of balconies and terraces on all floors with views across southern Bristol.

CGI of how CARGO Work could look

Clad using upcycled shipping container components, CARGO Work has been designed to be highly sustainable and low in energy use with brise soleils to prevent heat gain and photovoltaic roof panels that take advantage of the building’s sunny position to create solar energy. It will include 47 secure bicycle racks and 7 parking spaces, as well as EV charging provision.

And the location is hard to beat. This city centre quarter is well known for being home to a unique mix of independent restaurants, cafes and shops. From fine dining to al fresco drinks and waterside strolls, not to mention the plethora of quirky, independent cafes and shops on your doorstep, this is an area bursting with life.

Set on the corner of Wapping Road and Cumberland Road, CARGO Work is at the heart of the city. Not only is it part of the iconic harbourside, but it’s just a short walk to the shopping streets of Cabot Circus, Corn Street market and an easy stroll to Bristol Temple Meads station.

Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade, the developer of Wapping Wharf, including CARGO Work, said: “It’s very exciting to see CARGO Work taking shape at Wapping Wharf right in the heart of the city. This significant office project will create stand-out workspace like no other, with the opportunity for its future occupier or occupiers to make their own unique mark on it. We hope the flythrough video will provide plenty of inspiration for a creative fit-out as well as offering a glimpse of what this striking, cutting-edge and sustainable building will look like once complete.”
