Free training courses
The West of England Institute of Technology has launched a range of free courses, all with the aim of supporting working adults to rapidly upskill or retrain.
The new Certificate of Future Technologies is a modular course designed by employers and educational institutions working in partnership to help businesses access high-quality, short, modular, technical training modules to upskill and reskill staff to better address their business needs.
The modules have a focus on a range of much needed skills areas, such as project management, coding, sustainability and accounting.
One particular module of interest, which is critical to employers looking to become more sustainable, is ‘Net Zero and how to achieve it’.
The course is delivered by Dave Horton FEMA MEI MAPM MCMI CITP, who has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the energy market, and has set up his own organisation, with the aim of educating and bringing Energy Management to the forefront of all businesses and organisations.
Dave Horton, mentions of the course: “If you’re looking to start the journey towards Net Zero, this module will help you start and continue that journey.
“To be able to set a target or create a strategy on how to reach Net Zero you must first understand your energy usage and thereby your emissions and where they come from. It is also important to understand by reducing your carbon emissions you are reducing your energy consumption and that means saving money, leading to greater profits and often can give a competitive edge within your industry sector.”
Organisations have an array of data available at their fingertips, but many find it difficult to understand it, and to use their data to drive business decisions that will positively impact the organisation.
This is a growing trend amongst employers, who are looking to address this. Through the Certificate of Future Technologies, you can access free training in Data Analytics.
Course leader, Mark Barnett, said: “Data is critical to businesses. For many employers, there is a disconnect between where they collect their data and how it is analysed. This short module will support people in gaining a better understanding on how to make data-driven decisions, using the relevant information.”
Employers are already seeing the benefit of these short modules as well. Glen Suttie, Business Development Director, Provek said: “With the on-going challenges that small businesses continue to face, Provek felt privileged to become a training partner in supporting the West of England Institute of Technology, to offer a high-quality, commercial, non-accredited Project Management module included within the overall Certificate of Future Technologies.
“The variety of course modules that this programme offers, provides a compelling opportunity for businesses to upskill and reskill staff in essential business and digital skills, fully funded through this innovative pilot, to help SMEs take their businesses forward. We look forward to seeing the benefits this provides to both staff and employers.”
