A new pop-up pub, The Linked Inn is coming to Bristol next month to refresh the traditional idea of job hunting. The Linked Inn, created by the world’s largest professional network LinkedIn, will be open for two days in Brunel Quay following its successful run in London earlier this year. The pub aims to show how socialising with your community can get you closer to the job you want.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

Punters at The Linked Inn will be able to meet with some of the UK’s hottest companies who are currently on the look-out for talent in Bristol. John Lewis Partnership, H&M and Hargreaves Lansdown are just some of the names who will be advertising ‘live job specials’ at the pub – meaning that prospective candidates could secure themselves a job simply by popping down for an after-work drink.

Career advice from LinkedIn experts will be on offer to help people boost their profiles, grow their network and make the most of their online community. A professional photographer will also be resident on both nights giving people the chance to perfect their LinkedIn profile picture.

The launch follows research which reveals that 45 per cent of people would rather be down the pub than spend time applying for a new role. With 36 per cent of Brits admitting it took them a long time to find a role they wanted to apply for and a further 30 per cent claiming they have found the application process lengthy, LinkedIn wants to show that the job seeking process doesn’t need to be as arduous as we think.

Darain Faraz, Careers Expert, LinkedIn comments: “We’re excited to bring The Linked Inn to Bristol following its sell-out success in London. We know that looking for a job can sometimes feel like a job in itself which is why we created our very own pub – to challenge this notion by showing that you can engage with your professional network as you would your social network whether that’s in a pub or online. Connecting with your social and professional community as part of the job seeking process means it needn’t feel like a chore!”

Daily ‘live job’ specials’

A series of live job vacancies will be on offer at the pub from a selection of companies such as John Lewis Partnership, H&M and Hargreaves Lansdown. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with hiring managers to find out more about the role and even land themselves an on-the-spot informal interview.

Career advice on tap

Those who want to get their professional profiles in tip top shape or just want to find out how to make more of their network can enlist the help of LinkedIn experts who will be on hand throughout the event. From the know-how on writing the very best profile and bartering for a better salary – to getting noticed by recruiters, it’s a fast track opportunity to get to the top of the talent pool.

Professional makeovers

Punters will have the opportunity to spruce up their profile picture with the help of a professional portrait photographer.

The pop-up coincides with LinkedIn’s marketing investment in the city. Keep an eye out and your ears open for more from LinkedIn in Bristol. Join the conversation using #InItTogether
