Travelwest continue to support businesses and their employees during Covid-19 lockdown
Travelwest have been keen to continue supporting businesses and their employees during the Covid-19 lockdown. We have tweaked our usual key offers in line with government advice and have also developed a package of support for key workers in Bristol.
Support for key workers:
- Want to try cycling but don’t have a bike? Travelwest will loan key workers a bike for up to
three months - Our Wheels to Work scheme is offering key workers a £100 discount off a refurbished bike
from Bristol Bike Project and Life Cycle UK, with a free lock and light set - Visit Better By Bike’s Cycle journey planner to find the best cycle route for your commute.
- For more information on other offers available to Key Workers across the West of England,
Travelwest have put together a useful guidance page
We have had over 100 key workers apply for the bike discount, and 35 people have already collected their newly refurbished bike! In addition to the above offers, we have also delivered a mix of hybrid and electric bikes to hospitals and businesses across the city for their staff to use for their commute and for deliveries.
We have had a great response from the recipients of our key worker offers so far!
Regardless of whether people are still commuting as part of their key worker role or working from home, we recognise that lots of people across Bristol are getting out on their bike for their daily exercise. To encourage more people to #ChooseCycling for their essential travel and daily exercise, Travelwest are teaming up with Love to Ride to encourage more people to experience the many benefits of riding a bike. Riding is good for our physical and mental health and helps keep us connected with the world around us, which is especially important during this time.
Love to Ride is a free online platform for logging your bike rides, sharing stories with other riders, and winning prizes! What’s more, we are running extra prize draws throughout the lock down period to keep people motivated!
Users can log journeys online manually, download the app to log journeys with GPS, or even link with other apps (like Strava) so your journeys are automatically tracked! Love to Ride have also created some useful guidance on how to ride safely in this Coronavirus era.
