Tusko’s updated how-to-guide for Google Ad Grants
If you haven’t heard of Tusko, they’re one of Bristol’s brightest creative digital agencies. Recently winning the prestigious Royal Television Society Award for their “hard-hitting” film, Women Lifers: Pennsylvania’s women serving Life Without Parole.
The agency specialises in content creation, web & branding, and ethical marketing.
Tusko’s name, and their logo, has a reference to an elephant in it. That’s the elephant in the room – the big thing that we sometimes just don’t talk enough about.
This provides a great synergy working with their core client base which are organisations who are tackling some societies and the world’s biggest issues. These purpose led organisations can be innovative tech for good companies, or charities and nonprofits who have a clear aim to help the beneficiaries of their services and support, or companies that support these organisations.
Tusko has a clear desire to help charities, nonprofits, and social enterprises. Using Google advertising is a great way for so many businesses to attract more people to websites and increase the chance of calls to action, newsletter signups and donations for a worthy cause. If the following questions grab your attention you may want to take a look at their guide.
- How do I improve the marketing for my charity?
- How can digital marketing be used to help my nonprofit organisation?
- How can I enhance my comms to be able to reach more beneficiaries?
Well, if you didn’t already know Google has a grant that gives eligible charities and nonprofit organisations up to £7000 per month of advertising spend on Google – for free! This is known as the Google Ad Grant.

Tusko has been helping local charities like Marmalade Trust and more recently Great Western Air Ambulance Charity with their Google Ads.
Marmalade Trust, the national loneliness charity, came to us to set up and run a Google Ad Grants campaign. The goal of the campaign was to both generate brand awareness for the charity, but also create additional visibility for their Loneliness Awareness Week.
$150,000 worth of ad spend to date ($8500 per month). Giving Marmalade Trust a 20x return on their investment. Tusko’s approach was to divide the campaign into distinct ad groups that were specifically designed to target their different audiences.

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity – a charity who on a daily basis saves people’s lives contacted us for some help with Google Ad Grant. They wanted some help utilising their Ads to help drive meaningful traffic to their website in order to increase donations, inspire volunteering, promote their career opportunities, and generate general brand awareness.
£1157 spend for £400 cost per month – 2.8x return on investment. A good start to the campaign.
