Airbus shortlisted for prestigious national award
Airbus has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
The Filton-based aircraft manufacturer has been nominated for the Apprentice Employer of the Year category in the annual Enginuity Skills Awards.
Apprentices are seen as critical to the future performance of the company, supporting its school outreach programme and encouraging more young people to take up STEM subjects.
“The Enginuity Skills Awards is important as an annual celebration of the people and organisations committed to developing the UK’s engineering and manufacturing skills, because the nominees inspire others,” said Ann Watson, chief executive of Enginuity.
“Airbus is a great example of this having embedded apprentices’ skills, behaviours and mindsets as key components of the company. The calibre of entries this year is perhaps the highest yet.
“Making the shortlist is a huge achievement, showing that Airbus is one of the organisations ensuring UK engineering and manufacturing has the talent it needs to prosper.”
Enginuity is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to finding new ways to close UK engineering and manufacturing skills gaps.
The Enginuity Skills Awards 2023 are set to take place on June 29 at the Park Plaza London Riverbank.
