Better Food hoping to open third shop
Award-winning independent Bristol organic food retailer Better Food is hoping to open a third store and cafe in Wapping Wharf.
It becomes the second business to announce it is moving to the new development, following in the footsteps of Small Street Espresso, whose second cafe will be called Little Victories.
There will also be a ‘foodie hub’ housed in a collection of shipping containers.
Better Food have issued a £350,000 bond to help with the move in partnership with Triodos Bank.
Currently operating across two successful shops in St Werburgh’s and Clifton, the company strives to promote good food and good health, supporting local producers and championing ethical, sustainable produce in the city.
The five year bond offers investors seven per cent gross annual interest and a 10 per cent store discount card, with a minimum investment of £2,000.
Better Food managing director Phil Haughton says: “We’re seeing a growing appetite for ethical food and goods from people across Bristol. The money raised through the bond will enable us to expand Better Food to a whole new area of the city, which is good news for everyone who wants access to healthy, sustainable produce and for the local suppliers we support.
“I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with such like-minded ethical partners to launch this bond. It is heartening to put ethics and people first, in a market that traditionally prioritises profit and returns.”
Head of Triodos Corporate Finance, Dan Hird, added: “Better Food has been a customer of Triodos Bank for over a dozen years. We are delighted to be able to help them access the capital they need to further expand their business and offer investors the opportunity to invest directly in a successful and well-known Bristol company.”
The offer closes on April 1. For more information, visit www.betterfood.co.uk/bondoffer
