Bristol-based travel group joins B Corp movement

By Charlie Watts  Tuesday May 30, 2023

The parent company of two destination specialist brands is the latest company in Bristol to join the B Corp movement.

Inside Travel Group, which owns InsideJapan Tours and InsideAsia Tours, has received a B Corp certification after its practices were assessed for how socially and environmentally responsible they are.

The Bristol-based firm, which was founded in 2000, has branches in the US, Australia, and operations teams in Japan, offering various types of travel experiences.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

On becoming a B Corp, Inside Travel’s co-founder Simon King said: “The full process has taken us almost two years to complete, but it is only the start of a longer journey of being a better business for our suppliers, customers, partners, and staff, as well as the communities and environment we work in.

“As a long-haul tour operator, we can’t and won’t shy away from the climate impact that travel has. We believe that travel can be a force for good, and our B Corp certification will set us on a path of continual improvement which ultimately will be better for our destinations and all whom we work with.”

Global sustainability manager Ron Moran added: “With our international offices, staff, and partners across the globe, the certification process has been a complex one, but it really is testament to the company’s commitment to being a better business which should also offer all our trade partners the reassurance that they are working with a great travel company.”

To date there are just under 6,300 B Corp companies in 89 countries across 159 industries, of which only 31 are travel companies in the tour operator space.

Inside Travel’s B Corp accreditation comes at the same time as it has also received its CarbonNeutral® certification.
