Bristol bike brand raises £1m with one week of crowdfunder still remaining
Temple Cycles was founded by Matt Mears while he was still a student at the University of Bristol.
Fast forward just ten years and Temple Cycles have now smashed through their latest equity crowdfunding target and have now raised more than £1m to help them expand sales into Europe and increase their electric bike range.
All of their bikes are made at the Brookgate Trading Estate in Ashton Vale, while they also have their own shop in Shoreditch in London.

The company’s next aim is to produce 50,000 bikes per year and despite hitting their initial target are continuing to raise investment – with anyone able to invest from as little as £10.
“There’s a huge opportunity for success in this rapidly growing market, especially for a business with all the value that Temple brings,” said Mears.
“In the future, green modes of transport will be increasingly important, and e-bikes will have a large role to play.
“This makes it an incredibly exciting time to be in this sector and we have a perfect position in the market to grow.”

Mears added: “By investing in Temple Cycles, you can support the re-shoring of bicycle manufacturing and play a part in the transition over to greener forms of transport.
“We all need to be cycling more, and we need to be riding well-designed bikes, which fit seamlessly into our everyday lives.”
