Bristol CEO joins women mentoring programme
A Bristol-based female entrepreneur has become a mentor for Cancer Research UK’s Women of Influence scheme.
Charmaine Vincent, owner and CEO of Baltimore Consulting, says she is “proud” to become part of the scheme, which aims to empower female research scientists by helping to remove barriers.
She said: “Mentoring Cancer Research UK’s incredible scientists at such a critical time in their development is an incredibly humbling opportunity.
“The ground-breaking research these women do, day in, day out, is truly remarkable – they play a huge part in saving people’s lives and I’m so proud to be able to provide valuable insights to help them flourish.
“I hope to be able to inspire and encourage these extraordinary women to become the very best version of themselves and break through barriers to become future leaders of cancer research and be role models for future generations of female scientists.”
The Women of Influence scheme offers support and mentorship outside of the academic sector.
The scheme provides additional insight into the experience and wisdom of businesswomen who have reached the top of their own fields.
It was set up in 2014 to address the number of women reaching senior positions being very low and many women dropping out of careers in scientific research early on.
Baltimore Consulting are the senior appointment and niche recruitment experts to the public sector.
Since their inception in 2013, they have continued to fulfil hiring requirements and support vulnerable subject areas such as mental health, SEN and safeguarding.
Charity contribution is an integral aspect of Baltimore Consulting’s business model and Cancer Research UK’s work is a cause that is close to the business.
In 2021, Baltimore Consulting were awarded Corporate Fundraising Team of the Year at Cancer Research UK’s Flame of Home Awards, having been nominated by the charity themselves in recognition of their efforts.
As their charity of choice, Baltimore Consulting have raised more than £40,000 for for Cancer Research UK since November 2019, through undertaking several fundraising initiatives and challenges, from celebrity hosted gala dinners and auctions, to skydives, abseils and walking challenges.
