Bristol hair salon becomes B Corp
An independent hair salon in Bristol is one of the first in the UK to become a B Corporation (or B Corp).
Bonomini has been certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.
The 26-year-old business on Alma Vale Road in Clifton said the certification “puts us in a very exciting position within our industry”.
“At Bonomini, we have always taken a different approach to hairdressing, driven by our founder, Egidia Bonomini, an influential leader in the sector, especially when it comes to sustainable hairdressing,” a spokesperson said.
“As a proudly exclusive Davines salon and friend of the fellow B-Corp company, we have worked alongside them to achieve this important certification.
“We hope that our achievement will inspire other independent salons within the industry to embrace sustainability.”
Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, added: “Welcoming Bonomini is an exciting moment because they have an opportunity to lead the way within the hairdressing industry.
“We and the rest of the B Corp community are really pleased to support Bonomini in paving the way for a new way of doing things
There are currently more than 1,400 B Corps in the UK and 7,000 worldwide. Other hairdressing industry B Corps include Blue Tit London.
