Bristol hosts Social Media Week Conference
Bristol Media, an organisation that connects media professionals throughout the city, has announced that it plans to bring global conference Social Media Week (SMW) to Bristol from November 14-18, 2016.
The conference will offer insights into the ways social media and technology affect how people work, play and interact around the world, and will focus on generating ideas and insights into the proper use of social media.
Bristol will become the first UK city outside of London to host an SMW conference. It will also become one of the first cities to also host SMWi, an initiative that will help spread SMW conferences to smaller cities.
“Bristol is gaining traction as one of the UK’s most important creative and media hubs,” says Bristol Media board director Lis Anderson. “It has an aggressive goal to become the most connected creative community in the UK. We believe SMWi Bristol will support these objectives as well as encourage cross industry collaboration and provide the opportunity for global exposure for our city.”
SMWi Bristol will showcase technology and social media experts and businesses from throughout the Southwest. The events program, yet to be finalised, will include a CEO roundtable, thought leadership master classes and events that will help newbies navigate the social media landscape.
Several events will be aimed at specific factions the Bristol business community, such as start-ups, third sector, food and drink, alternative energy and high tech.
“We are thrilled to be expanding the SMW footprint in the UK by bringing SMWi to the wonderful city of Bristol,” says Toby Daniels, CEO of SMW owner Crowdcentric.
SMW hosts seasonal conferences throughout Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Australia and Asia, with over 70,000 people and 5,000 speakers attending the events.
