Bristol production company to launch new talent fund

By Charlie Watts  Monday Jul 19, 2021

A production company in Bristol will soon be offering up to £10,000 to help emerging talent develop their own scripted projects.

Through October, Wildseed Studios’ ideas portal will invite creatives to submit their ideas for live action or animation projects.

Those who submit ideas do not have to have an agent or produced before to be considered, nor do they have to have written a script.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

They can just send in character designs, videos, graphic novels or manuscripts – with Wildseed’s mission being to find and nurture the talent of the future.

The Wildseed team will then work with successful entrants, who will receive £10,000 to develop their ideas into pitches, which could be commissioned by mainstream TV companies.

The last time Wildseed’s ideas portal was opened three years ago, submissions were picked up by major TV channels and streaming platforms.

This includes Netflix’s live action series The Last Bus, Sky Kids’ animated sitcom Dodo and Disney XD’s animated comedy Counterfeit Cat.

Speaking about the new talent fund, Jesse Cleverly, Wildseed Studios’ co-founder and creative director, said: “Success in the content business is, now more than ever, driven by passion projects from unique voices and, as we know from joyful experience, when we find raw talent and mentor their creative vision, we find the next generation of hits.

“We are also very aware that the industry has so far failed to enable the full spectrum of creative talent, which is why we are especially focussed on those voices who have not felt represented in the industry to date.

“We are also committed to delivering value to anyone who submits an idea to us from the very first contact, which is why we promise to give constructive feedback on every idea we are sent, even if we can’t take it forward.”
