Bristol Technology Festival returns for 2021

By Charlie Watts  Tuesday Oct 12, 2021

A festival celebrating technology developments in the South West region has returned for its third year.

Bristol Technology Festival, which runs from October 11 to 15, will host a programme of more than 50 events.

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘changing the face of tech’, with an emphasis on tackling a lack of diversity and inclusion in the sector.

Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

IT solutions and services provider Softcat is headlining the celebration, which kicked off with a launch event at the Engine Shed.

Rob Parkinson, CIO of Softcat, says they are “delighted” to be involved in the 2021 event.

He said: “Bringing together local technology communities and shining a light on all the innovation the region has to showcase is an important way to drive collaboration and industry growth.

“The last 18 months have been tough for many industries, but technology has come through as an enabler and has made many re-think how they interact and do business.

“As the impact of technology continues to grow, forums like the Bristol Technology Festival have never been more important and we are pleased to be supporting it.”

Speakers at this year’s festival include games and software developer Antonia Forster, inspiring more women to pursue careers in the tech sector.

FinTech West will also be hosting a summit at the festival to highlight innovation in the industry, while TechSPARK will be handing out awards to showcase the best in the sector.
