BT seeks to recruit for more than 50 new roles in Bristol

BT Group intends to create more than 50 new roles in Bristol ahead of a move into new offices in 2022.

The telecoms giant is seeking to recruit 32 graduates and 19 apprentices this year as it progresses plans to make the city one of its “key locations”.

At the end of last year, the company announced it will be moving into the Assembly Bristol building, which is currently under construction and will have capacity for a workforce of 2,000.

Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

This represents a multi-million-pound investment by BT, with the company pledging to increase its presence significantly in the city in the coming years.

Announcing the latest recruitment drive on Wednesday, Alison Wilcox, HR director for BT Group, said: “BT is at the heart of the UK’s digital economy and as a leading employer of apprentices and graduates we offer unparalleled development opportunities.

“Despite the uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve continued to recruit and attract brilliant people from all walks of life into our business, and we value the diverse perspectives they bring. We look forward to welcoming the 2021 newcomers.”

BT is seeking to recruit talent from engineering, customer service, applied research, and cyber-security fields “to support the UK’s fast-growing digital sectors”. The company says new recruits will also support its plans to build and extend the latest 5G networks around the UK.

The telecoms giant is also seeking to support young job seekers through its Work Ready training scheme, which is designed to help people kickstart their careers and providing opportunities for those who aren’t in employment, education or training.
