Businesses invited to table tennis contest

By Laura Collacott  Monday Jun 8, 2015

Entries close this Friday (12th June) for Battle of the Paddle, a unique, ping-pong based business networking event. Bristol companies are invited to connect over a game of table tennis in a tournament open to all skill levels and sectors.

“Our aim is to get employees out of the office at lunchtime or after work this summer,” says co-organiser Dylan Pepler from Blackstar Solutions. “We’re urging business to get involved; not only will it give them kudos but table tennis increases concentration and alertness, stimulates brain function and develops tactical thinking.”

The idea grew from the Bristol City Council Ping table tennis tables when local sponsors found a lunchtime game a great opportunity to engage with out businesses “away from the standard (sometimes rigid) networking events”. The inaugural tournament played out in November 2014 with more than 40 teams taking part. The top 16 were selected from two pools, going on to compete in a knockout at Vivo Sports Club.
