Call out for dragon boat teams

By Laura Collacott  Monday Jul 6, 2015

Local charity Julian House is appealing for business teams to compete in the 9th annual Dragon Boat Festival, set to take place in Bristol Harbour on Saturday September 5.

“The event gives staff the chance to enjoy a social day out at Bristol’s Harbour side, while also helping to raise funds that will change people’s lives for the better,” says Alexis Woodward from Julian House who is organising the event. “Crews do not need to be super fit or skilled – it is all about teamwork and having fun! There are only two opportunities to take part in dragon boat racing a year in Bristol, this is your team’s last chance to enter. Don’t miss the boat!”

Teams of 16 plus a drummer are invited to pit themselves against each other in heats along the 250m course, with victory sealed by a hotly contested final. The event draws thousands of spectators each year as well as raising money for Julian House, a local charity that provides services for the homeless, including support for domestic violence, addiction recovering, support for learning difficulties, work experience and training.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

“This event will raise funds for Julian House which will enable people to begin to rebuild their lives again, but the event will also bring together other local charities to show the Bristol community exactly what support exists to help when it’s really needed.”

Team entry is £365. Click here for more information and to register your team.
