Clifton boss shortlisted for business award

By Laura Collacott  Friday Apr 29, 2016

Bristol businessman Mike Beesley, CEO of Clifton-based recruitment business Resource Solutions Group (RSG), has been announced as one of 33 finalists in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2016

EY Entrepreneur Of The Year is a prestigious business award that recognises the contribution of people with entrepreneurial spirit. Now running in more than 145 cities in over 60 countries worldwide, this is the 18th year they have been staged in the UK.

Mike said: “Being in the position of leading a business that you care passionately about is one of life’s great privileges. I’m proud of what everyone at RSG has achieved and feel that with this nomination I’m representing the business as a whole. We came from small beginnings and have carved our own path, which I feel has created an entrepreneurial culture where everyone can achieve with hard work and determination.

“The added bonus is we have a lot of fun along the way, so I’m delighted to have been shortlisted.”

Mike will go on to compete in the regional final for London & South, the winners of which will battle for the title of EY Entrepreneur of the Year UK winner in October, and the chance to represent the country at the World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards to be held in Monte Carlo in 2017.

Richard Jones, senior partner at EY in the South West said: “These dynamic, fast growing companies – and the people behind them – are vital to the South West region’s national and global competitiveness, and these awards rightly recognise their success. Investment in technology and innovation, domestic and international expansion are just some of the ways these entrepreneurs are growing their businesses and positioning themselves for further growth over the years ahead.”

Stuart Watson, UK Entrepreneur Of The Year Leader added: “The 2016 finalists are great examples of men and women who are visionaries; finding ways to do things better.

“Where there is uncertainty, there is change, and these entrepreneurs see change as an opportunity to innovate and grow their business. According to our survey, 90% expect their profits to grow by 2018, with 53% forecasting growth greater than 10% for their business. In addition, 93% of our Entrepreneur Of The Year Alumni said they planned to take on new hires before the end of this year, with a fifth looking to create more than 50 jobs.”
