DHL to build Avonmouth hub

By Laura Collacott  Monday Feb 27, 2017

DHL has bought a 15-acre site at Avonmouth’s Central Park where it will build a bespoke 160,000 sq ft unit. The company joins neighbours such as Lidl, the Range, Sita, Tesco and Next.

Michael Shebson of Delta Properties, which owns the 640-acre Central Park industrial site, commented:“Many of the occupiers which we signed up last year are now on site developing and to add DHL to this list is confirmation of the quality of our logistics park.

Highways England has recently announced the location of the new M49 junction, which will come straight into Central Park and this, together with our existing planning permission, rail connections and full infrastructure means Central Park remains virtually unrivalled in the south-west in terms of the quality of our product and ability to immediately develop for a wide range of uses.”

As well as bespoke warehousing, work is set to commence soon on a 400,000 square feet speculative scheme in three buildings by Stoford, on behalf of Mountpark Logistics.

The development is indicative of a period of growth for Avonmouth. Elsewhere, Rockhaven is currently constructing a separate speculative industrial scheme at Cabot Park, which will deliver three new production/distribution buildings ranging from 12,500 sq ft to 37,500 sq ft. The buildings are scheduled for completion in July 2017.

“With record take-up in 2016, industrial supply in Bristol is now at a 13 year low,” says Alder King’s industrial/logistics partner, Andrew Ridler. “The market is in urgent need of new stock.”

Paul Hobbs of commercial property agent GVA added: “Avonmouth is a very buoyant location and has experienced significant demand for production and distribution space. Limited supply is resulting in rent and capital values increasing.”
