Entries open for IoD awards

By Laura Collacott  Monday Feb 6, 2017

Bristol business leaders are being invited to enter the Institute of Directors’ South West Director of the Year Awards 2017, recognising excellence and enterprise.

Awards fall under the categories of family business, public sector, not-for-profit, international, corporate responsibility, young director and director. Nominations are open to anyone working at director level in any business or organisation and are not dependent on being an IoD member.

Previous Bristol winners have included Brady George, managing director of Almeda Facilities in Keynsham, and James Piper, commercial director of waste compliance firm ecosurety.  Brady went on to win the national award for Leadership in Corporate Responsibility.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

“These awards recognise and celebrate the role of business and enterprise leaders and their contribution to the diverse economy of the South West, from aerospace, technology and tourism through to our reputation in the creative industries and social enterprise,” said IoD South West chairman Nick Sturge. “There are some exciting businesses in this region, from start ups to multi million pound turnover international players, many of whom don’t get the recognition they deserve.

“This year we really want to stretch the net wide and urge businesses who perhaps haven’t thought about entering before to give it a go.  As a former winner, I can testify to the privilege of achieving one of these awards and the exposure it brings.”
