Festival of Female Entrepreneurs returns
The Festival of Female Entrepreneurs will be back in Bristol on October 21 to bring together some of the UK’s most influential female entrepreneurs, business leaders and start-ups.
Now in its fifth year, it aims to provide women with insight to start and scale a business, with seminars covering diverse topics such as ‘female appetite for risk’, ‘how I made it’, where technology is taking us, how important wellbeing is to success, how to sell into retail stores and how to take your company global.
Expertise will come from a variety of respected business people, such as Julie Deane of The Cambridge Satchel Company; Oliver Bonas founder Oliver Tress; O2 Business’ head of marketing Sarah Evans; co-founder of Tatty Devine, Rosie Wolfenden; Helena Hills of Truestart; and Rachel Clacher, co-founder, Moneypenny.
Commenting on the need for a women-only event, Liz Slee of organisers Enterprise Nation said: “Much of the news in the media is about tech start-ups or so-called gazelles and unicorns – start-ups that have taken on millions of pounds in investment in order to create the new Google or Facebook. The problem is, it doesn’t reflect the way most women start businesses. They are starting out small and growing organically, testing their business before they start to take on debt. This can make them less interesting to investors.”
The festival will showcase some great female-founded businesses that have got great ideas and ambition to match, said Liz: “it’ the modus operandi, ingenuity and tenacity of these women we’re interested in”.
The event will take place at At-Bristol, with tickets starting at £10. Find out more at www.enterprisenation.com/festival
