New food app offers real-time deals

By Laura Collacott  Monday Dec 12, 2016

A new app has launched in Bristol that allows restaurants to offer real-time discount deals on empty seats.

CityMunch, a new food technology app backed by Just Eat, has been running in London for six months from its base in the Google Campus building and is designed to benefit local restaurants and diners equally. Restauranteurs can enhance slow hours with discount deals while customers can take advantage of up to 50 per cent off the bill, regardless of group size.

Founder Robert Lynch, said: “Bristol is the ideal place for us. It has an incredible food scene and a really engaged population that like to try new things. Bristol’s emergence as one of the UK’s leading technology centres shows that people here are excited about the future.”

The app has launched with 22 restaurant partners in the city centre, including The Albion, Burger Joint and Pizzarova.

CityMunch became the first startup on Just Eat’s Accelerator programme, after winning the London Food Tech Week pitching competition in October.
