Generating positive change in Bristol’s creative sector
The organiser of a ground-breaking event aimed at boosting representation in creative industries says this is only the beginning.
Stacey Olika launched Agents of Change: Think, Create, Play, in partnership with UWE Bristol’s Equity, in a bid to shine a light on emerging talent and showcase unheard voices in the sector.
“When planning this event, I had no idea the impact it would have – that’s what amazes me the most,” the graphic designer, photographer and filmmaker tells Bristol24/7, after the successful launch at the Arnolfini.
“I see Agents of Change continuing and becoming much bigger. We already have some ideas for Black History Month, so stay tuned – this is only the beginning.”

Saturday’s event saw Jide Adetunji, co-founder of GUAP MAG, the UK’s first video magazine, give an inspiring talk on bringing ideas to life, the challenges faced and the fact everyone has different ‘how to’ in order to reach their goal.
A panel discussion was led by female creatives, each agents of change in their chosen careers. They provided an insight into being a young creative in Bristol and making a name for yourself.

Euella Jackson hosted an interactive networking session
The play section was hosted by freelancer Euella Jackson, who led an interactive networking session.
Stacey adds: “Connections were made with many different creative disciplines and it was truly amazing to see.”
