Industry figures show construction boom in the South West

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has released figures that show the sector is booming in the South West.

The industry body estimates that 20,000 new jobs will be created in South West, alongside growth in the region at 3.1% from 2017 to 2021, which is double the UK annual rate of 1.7%.

Major projects like Hinkley Power Point C are cited as part of the reason behind the boom.

The figures were released ahead of the CITB’s South West Construction Summit taking place on Friday, June 9.

As part of the event, the industry body wants to publicise the diversity of jobs available within the sector, from creative office jobs to mucky site work.
