Last chance to apply for Green Business Grants

By Ellie Pipe  Monday Oct 28, 2019

Small and medium businesses can apply for grants for up to £15,000 to improve their green credentials – but the deadline is fast approaching.

The £1m fund from the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) aims to help companies boost their energy efficiency, reduce bills and protect firms from future price rises.

Cashback grants of between £1,000 and £15,000 are available for:

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.
  • Improvements to the energy efficiency of buildings, this could include insulation, heating and lighting.
  • Investment in business operations, such as electric vehicles or more efficient production or refrigeration equipment.

The grant pays for 40 per cent of eligible costs and is paid in arrears at the end of the project. The deadline to apply for a Green Business Grant is November 1.

Metro mayor Tim Bowles, head of WECA, said: “I would urge small and medium-sized businesses to apply for a Green Business Grant before the November 1 deadline.

“This fund will help businesses make their buildings and activities more energy efficient. It will help protect the climate and environment upon which we and future generations depend.”

Green Business Grants are part of WECA’s Low Carbon Challenge Fund, which is supported with £1.7m from the European Regional Development Fund.
