Mubaloo sold to London media agency
Mubaloo, an award-winning enterprise mobile consultancy and app developer rooted in Bristol has announced it has been acquired by IPG Mediabrands. The Clifton company has been growing at between 20 and 30 per cent annually, figures achieved within two years of establishing in 2009.
The staff of 60 who will be kept at the Bristol base and continue to work with clients similar to existing customers RAC, Aviva and the Met Office.
“Mediabrands is a worldwide organisation in more than 100 countries dealing the likes of Johnson & Johnson globally,” said Mubaloo founder Mark Mason. “That gives us a huge opportunity to grow the Mubaloo brand.
“When we started, everyone wanted an app,” he continued. “The CEO would want one because his son had bought an iPhone. We started out as two guys in a shed charging £5,000 a time. It has grown and grown and grown.”
IPG is a London-based agency that buys advertising space and runs marketing campaigns for corporate firms around the globe. The new acquisition will allow it to deliver full mobile programmes in-house.
“Mobile is clearly the future of communication and the biggest opportunity for marketers,” said Jason Carter, chief digital officer for EMEA at IPG Mediabrands. “However, we saw that consumers are way ahead of brands in this space and realised that we needed to assist our clients to move beyond just mobile media. This move helps them to develop all aspects of mobile marketing and fully leverage the opportunities that connected consumers represent.”
