New 3D printing centre opens

By Laura Collacott  Monday Feb 29, 2016

HiETA has opened the doors to new advanced technology centre at Bristol & Bath Science Park, hoping to “break new ground” for the UK’s additive manufacturing industry, commonly referred to as 3D printing. The sector is forecast to be worth $3.5b by 2017.

Employing six staff, the new centre offers one of the UK’s first full solution services, enabling customers to fulfil concept, design, analysis, manufacture and testing in one place.

Mike Adams, CEO of HiETA, said: “We are very proud of the progress that HiETA has made over the last four years. This is testament to the collaborative environment that we call our home, Bristol & Bath Science Park. The park’s grow on space is the perfect location for our new centre, where we have already seen some fascinating solutions come to life. We look forward to more of the same in the years to come.”

HiETA has experienced rapid growth since its formation in 2012 and has expanded from a hot-desk at Bristol & Bath Science Park, to a 24-strong company. Working alongside organisations including the Ministry of Defence and InnovateUK, the company has developed components for the automotive, defence, aerospace and clean energy sectors.

Iain Gray chairman of the steering committee at Bristol & Bath Science Park, said: HiETA is an exemplar tenant that illustrates exactly what we are trying to achieve here at BBSP, from start-up, to successful company and market leader. The growth and innovation within the walls of HiETA’s new centre come hand in hand with our future ambitions for the Science Park. It is an exciting time for the industry and we are delighted to see HiETA enter a new chapter.”
