New innovation fund for West of England businesses
Local businesses are being offered the chance to apply for grants of £20,000 or £50,000.
The Business Innovation Fund is for small and medium-sized enterprises to create new products, processes and services.
It is being offered by the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), and was launched at NuNano, which takes images of objects that are nanometres in size.
The Bristol company was previously given £20,000 from the Business Innovation Fund to develop new products for the ‘mini-photo’ industry.
Its ‘world-class’ technology has been used in medicine to picture individual kidney cells and to distinguish cancer cells from normal cells.

Speaking at the fund’s launch, Dan Norris, the West of England metro mayor, said: “From Brunel to Concorde our region has always been at the forefront of innovation.
“Through the power of investment in innovation we can build an even more efficient, creative and sustainable future and really put our region on the map nationally and internationally.”
