Online version of Bedminster high streets launched
A new website enables people to support independent south Bristol businesses with just a click of a button.
WeAreBS3 sells a variety of items from shops including Mon Pote, Kask and Toyville.
Local businesses are offering everything from food and drink to arts and crafts, and the new site hopes that companies across Bedminster will continue being supported during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Our online orders have obviously been vital to keep us in touch with our customers during this period and the support from the local people of Bedminster has been amazing during this time,” says Zero Green’s Stacey Fordham.

Stacey adds: “The new site enables us to process orders and organise deliveries without the crippling cost of a commercial third-party service.
“It also means that local people can shop in one place, supporting the high street, regardless of if they can visit us in store over the coming weeks and months.”
Government guidance suggests that lockdown may be eased over the coming months, but this is still an unknown, and local high streets need support now more than ever to ensure its survival post-coronavirus.
“This is a very difficult period for the high street right now, but we have seen a great return to shopping local in Bedminster with people exploring North, West and East Street, with new people discovering and buying from their community shops,” says Simon Dicken, chair of Bedminster Business Improvement District, who are behind the new website.

The organisation worked with Employtec, who donated their time over several weeks to get the project reading to unveil.
Phil Stevens of Employtec, who donated many hours to the project to enable the new digital platform to launch, says: “We now have 13 businesses up and running with more joining the platform each week and hope to create a local ecosystem which supports the circular economy while also improving the quality produce we are able to access from the comfort of our homes in the area.”
Businesses including Five Acre Farm, Flip Deli and Bristol Garden Kitchen are already part of the site, and more businesses will join in the coming weeks.
