Saffron Records open new creative working space
Bristol’s all-female record label and music education platform, Saffron Records, have opened a new collaborative working space, for the city’s music and creative freelancers to use as a base.
Creatives can rent a desk area above 25-27 Stokes Croft through the newly-created Saffron Space, and connect with other professionals to collaborate on ideas and new projects.
Creative director of Saffron Records, Laura Lewis-Paul, said: “We wanted to be able to have creative people working in our space, so that we can build a really robust community of music and creative specialists within Bristol.
“Because Saffron is a new company, it’s really important for us to have more individuals in the music industry close by to encourage more collaborations.”
The smaller desks can be used full time with 24 hour access and the company offers hotdesking contracts for the bigger centre table in the room.
“What we really want to do is bring people who are naturally networking together,” Laura added. “Sometimes, you just want to be able to bounce ideas off of someone that’s faces similar sorts of issues to you. It creates a really really nice working environment.
“I think that Bristol is such a creative city and when there’s that support and that connection, it helps the working creative community to get stronger.”
Saffron Space is becoming a hub for the music and creative’s across Bristol, with booking agents, publicists and management companies already occupying the space. Askew Architects run 25-27 Stokes Croft and holds the same vision for the space: to host and support creative companies and build communities.
Saffron moved to Bristol in April 2016 and operates as a Community Interest Company, running a local female record label and music education platform. Their strong internship programme has also been given a boost by the new space, which is allowing interns to network.
“They are building relationships with their potential industry in a very organic manner,” says Laura Lewis-Paul. “There has already been talk of having interns working across the different companies, so they build up a varied CV for their future.”
The office space is furnished, and rental includes the use of 5G Wifi, free tea, coffee, fruit and showers. For more information, including a free trial use of the space, contact space.saffron@gmail.com
