Science minister makes special visit to Bristol business hub

A government minister has hosted a special roundtable discussion at Bristol’s enterprise hub.

George Freeman spoke about the the region’s science, research and innovation challenges during the event at the Engine Shed.

The science minister was joined on the panel by industry leaders and the mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

He also visited startup Open Bionics, and Science Creates, a deep tech ecosystem, during his trip to city.

Freeman commented: “Our ‘science superpower and innovation nation’ mission is about supporting world class science and innovative businesses developing world class innovation.

“It was fantastic to visit the Bristol cluster, seeing first-hand the excellent work being done in quantum computing, robotics, artificial intelligence and bionics.

“The depth and breadth of UK research excellence, coupled with our financing ecosystem for high growth companies, makes the UK a global powerhouse in innovation.”
