Shepherd’s hut manufacturer expands due to soaring demand
A manufacturer of shepherd’s huts has expanded due to a rise in demand for the outdoor living spaces.
Greendown Shepherds Huts have relocated from Somerset to Zeal Green Business Park near Keynsham, giving them the space to expand and grow their brand.
Now in their seventh year, the company project their production to increase to two huts per week from their new site.
The team of 15 is led by founders Richard Hodges, Harry Long and and his brother-in-law, director Jordan Franklin.

Harry said: “The interest in our huts has grown rapidly over the last two years and we’ve outgrown two different sites very quickly.
“Here we have the space and capacity to ensure our clients orders and delivery schedules are on track while not compromising in any way on quality.”
Harry, who previously worked as a carpenter in the building trade for ten years, thought he’d try his hand at building a shepherds’ hut after seeing one by chance.
He added: “When I saw my first shepherds’ hut, I was both enthralled and knew I could do it better. I researched such a build and then I did it and it sold immediately.
“Since then, I’ve been refining and flexing my designs as clients arrive with different needs and different sites.”
Greendown mainly makes shepherd’s huts for boutique hotels, holiday lets, glamping sites and other tourism enterprises, with prices starting from £39,945 per unit.
