Temple Cycles crowdfunding for growth
Temple Cycles has launched a crowdfunder to help them introduce a revamped range of bikes, recruit 15 new members of staff, expand their facilities and invest in UK bike manufacturing.
The owners are offering investors 10 per cent equity, plus a variety of rewards ranging from special edition merchandise to custom bicycles, with a minimum investment of £10. They plan to use the cash to research new products such as eBikes and kids bikes, grow their accessories range and to research how to best batch-fabricate frames in the UK from scratch.
The campaign has already exceeded its initial £150,000 target and hopes to stretch it by at least another £50,000 by the time the bid closes on Friday March 17.
Now headquartered in Filwood Green Business Park and shipping nationally and internationally, Temple Cycles was started with £5,000 from a spare room. It is owned and operated by 26-year old Matt Mears who started out restoring classic bicycles while studying at Bristol University.
“We want to grow bicycle production in the UK,” says Matt. “We want to make beautiful, stylish British bicycles here in Bristol and sell them throughout the World. There was a time when the UK’s bicycle industry was the envy of the World – it’s our dream to bring those days back”.
