UWE holds high-profile business lecture series
The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) has revealed its programme of speakers for the forthcoming Bristol Distinguished Address Series.
The series of events, now in its eighth year, will feature speeches from influential CEOs and chairmans from September to December.
Series organiser Professor Nicholas O’Regan said: “We are pleased to reveal our latest programme of inspirational speakers. Once again, we have attracted a high quality line up from organisations covering a wide range of industries.
“The lectures are free to attend and offer members of the business community, along with students, alumni and staff, an exceptional opportunity to hear from business leaders operating at the peak of their respective professions.”
Notable speakers include Sacha Romanovitch, CEO of Grant Thornton, who became the first woman to be elected as CEO of a major accountancy firm in July 2015. She believes in creating sustainable value for clients, people and broader society, and will discuss how business can help shape a vibrant economy in which no-one is left behind.
Joining her is Juliet Davenport OBE (pictured), CEO of Good Energy, one of the UK’s first entirely renewable electricity supplier and generator companies. Davenport, who was awarded her OBE for work in renewable energy in 2013, will discuss the urgency of decarbonising our economy, something, she will argue, that is only possible by breaking down the barriers of local, national and international politics.
Seven lectures in total will take place at UWE’s new £55m law and business school, and following each talk there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions of the speakers.
