Why sustainability makes perfect business sense

By Ellie Pipe  Wednesday Oct 16, 2019

Company leaders are invited to attend a free event outlining the business case for sustainability.

Hosted by Bristol24/7, in collaboration with The Planet Mark Start!, the workshop will cover why improving environmental credentials is not only the right thing to do for the planet, but also an economically sound move.

The event will take place on Thursday, October 24, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, at Origin Workspace, and follows a successful session in May, that saw scores of businesses take part and gain a Planet Mark certificate.

Better Business
Better Business is an initiative launched by Bristol24/7 to help businesses thrive, whilst creating a positive impact on Bristol and the people who live here.

Having a positive social, environmental and economic impact is key to any business wishing to sustain its activities, as well as ensuring resilience in times of increasing uncertainty.

This event will help companies build their own business case for sustainability, resulting in a sustainability plan and certification from the scheme.

The three-hour workshop will cover:

·      What is sustainability?

·      The business benefits of sustainability.

·      Developing a sustainability plan within your organisation.

·      Marketing sustainability.

·      Future opportunities.

Bristol24/7 officially launched Better Bristol last year, an initiative to make the city a better place for everyone to live, work and enjoy. It marked the beginning of a more collaborative approach to having a positive social and environmental impact.

It was also the start of Bristol24/7’s own journey into carbon neutrality, which is being assisted by sustainability consultancy Planet First.

The Planet Mark Start! is an ERDF and local authority-funded sustainability programme led by Planet First.

The programme is fully funded by ERDF to eligible businesses.
