Found Footage Festival is back
Each time Joe Pickett (The Onion) and Nick Prueher (Late Show with David Letterman) have come to Bristol with their hilarious Found Footage Festival, the show has sold out. Tickets for the duo’s last appareance in town back in 2015 were snapped up within days. So demand is likely to be very high indeed for the upcoming Found Footage Festival Volume 8, which takes place at the Cube on Wednesday, March 29.
Why the enthusiasm? Founded back in 2004 by Pickett and Prueher, the Festival specialises in collecting crappy old VHS videos from bins, garage sales and charity shops. The duo are constantly on the lookout for bizarre home movies, odd industrial training videos, rib-tickling self-help guides, crazy religious rants, and so on. They then splice this cornucopia of crud together to form a show, discussing where and how they found the clips and adding their own live comedy commentary.
is needed now More than ever
Among the VHS gems they’ve uncovered for this all-new show are a collection of satanic panic videos from the 80s, including The Law Enforcement Guide to Satanic Cults; outtakes and on-air bloopers from more than ten years of North Dakota local news; a star-studded Desert Storm parade sponsored by Taco Bell; and highlights from David Letterman’s Video Collection, inherited by the Found Footage Festival when Letterman retired.
Advance tickets, price £12, were available here but have now sold out. A second, earlier show has now been added. Tickets can be bought here.
