Simple Things Festival announces lineup

By Adam Burrows  Wednesday Jun 1, 2016

Simple Things has announced its first wave of artists for 2016.  The multi-venue festival will return to Bristol in October featuring a typically broad array of leftfield musical talent from rock to R&B, house, grime and noise.

Live acts announced so far include LA indie quartet Warpaint (pictured), former Beta Band frontman Steve Mason, industrial techno brutalist Powell and Congolese innovator Kanda Bongo Man. As always underground club DJs are also well represented with Hessle Audio mainman Ben UFO and Chicago footwork pioneer DJ Spinn among the tastiest bookings. There’s also a return visit for Helena Hauff, whose set in the police cells was a stand-out highlight of Simple Things 2015.

The festival itself will take place on Saturday, October 22 at Colston Hall, Lakota, the Firestation and Island complex, and Bristol O2 Academy. There will also be a closing concert on Sunday 23 featuring an extremely rare performance by veteran film director and electronic music pioneer John Carpenter.
