Taste Chocolate festival comes to Bristol

By Rachel Morris  Tuesday Feb 3, 2015

A festival of chocolate is set to take over a corner of the harbourside for a two-day extravaganza this Easter weekend.

Taste Chocolate will bring together some of the South West’s finest chocolatiers, producers and artisans to showcase the very best locally-crafted chocolates, cakes, pastries, fudge, churros, wine, beer, liqueurs, hot chocolate and of course, Easter eggs.

Visitors can watch talented producers and chefs at work in the Taste Chocolate Cookery Theatre, or acquaint themselves with some of Bristol’s rich chocolate history.

For example, the first ever chocolate Easter egg was crafted in Bristol by JS Fry in 1873, before Cadbury’s launched their own version two years later.

The free two-day festival will take place outside Brunel’s ss Great Britain and feature 40 stalls, chocolate demonstrations, live music, children’s activities, competitions and more chocolate-related activities.

Organiser Sophie Bowden says: “Bristol has a surprising and interesting history of Chocolate. We are also lucky enough to have the finest chocolatiers and experimental chefs pushing the boundaries in the art of chocolate so it seemed like a natural home for a celebration of chocolate.”

Taste Chocolate takes place on Brunel Square next to the ss Great Britain on April 4 and 5 2015. For further information visit www.tastechocolate.co.uk..
