The intricate designs are the work of Tom Weeks who says that cherry tomatoes have come in very handy for his designs so far.

“I just thought it was a good way of showcasing the Mabel’s produce, and the aesthetics of the shop whilst tying in the nation’s love of football – and vegetable puns,” Tom, 24, told Bristol24/7.

“I’ve only made two so far but I reckon it takes about 20 minutes of choosing the right fruit and veg, then arranging them to make it look as close to the choice of flag as possible.

“The Spanish crest proved difficult so I just plonked a Spanish onion on there instead. Then I stand on a stool and take a picture from above.”

Mabel’s owner Melanie Hill calls Tom “a bit of a perfectionist”, and the pair are already thinking of ideas to coincide with the Olympics.
