The Flavour Sensation
It’s a brave new business to call themselves The Flavour Sensation.
Unfortunately for this new restaurant on Park Street, the flavours here aren’t quite as sensational as the name would lead you to believe.
“The food you love without compromise” is the tagline in premises that were once occupied by Cafe Rouge and which retains the split-level dining, with the addition of bright yellow and red seating.
is needed now More than ever
If you happen to love tomato soup or prawn cocktail, then this is the place for you. They are two starters on a decidedly lacklustre lunch menu.
My 4oz chicken burger (which also bizarrely appears among the breakfast selections) made me feel sorry for the chicken whose life had been lost to sit forlornly within an insipid white bun beneath a lettuce leaf and slice of tomato.
The apple pie for dessert was better, sweet slices of fruit in a well-made pastry. But it was nothing that a competent home cook couldn’t rustle up in their own kitchen.
Lunch costs £6.95 for one course, £8.95 for two or £10.95 for three.
There is more choice in the evenings, with sharing meat and vegetarian platters for two, an option to build your own burger, and steaks, salads and pasta options.
The Flavour Sensation – not big on flavour nor sensation.
