Bike accessories shop opens in Old Market

By Laura Collacott  Monday Aug 8, 2016

A bike accessories and clothing shop specialising in cycling gear for road bikers, cycle tourers and urban commuters has opened at 32 Old Market Street.

Forever Pedalling promises to bring cyclists unique and stylish products from brands including Ortlieb, Bristol bag maker Mack Workshop and hip American label The Athletic

The shop is the brainchild of avid cyclist Tim Wilkey who has earned his stripes in Halfords, Avon Valley Cyclery, The Triathlon Shop and as a cycle courier.

Having cycled the length of New Zealand, he knows his onions: “I’ve worked in bike shops for 13 years but I’ve always wanted to do something different that wasn’t workshoppy, getting your hands dirty.

“I want to appeal to the commuters who use the bike everyday as their mode of transport, to the race community, and everything in between. We’ve got everything in price range, something for everyone.”

Owner Tim Wilkey at the helm.

Tim, who founded Bristol road cycling club Das Rad Klub three years ago, hopes to build a cycling community around the shop too and has included a TV and modest snack bar for screening races.

“We do rides and events around Bristol so the idea was to have some social space for the club as well; to build a community around the shop.”

Not all local residents, however, are happy with the shop’s arrival:
